The Carsons: Tommy and Betty

Fellow minister Tommy Carson was with Bobby Cave at the start of this ministry in 2002, offering his skills as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, soon joined by his wife/backup singer/song-writing partner Betty, and Tommy continued as a backup singer and guitarist after the group soon found their lead musician. Tommy was instrumental in helping Bobby plant a church in Brushie Prairie, TX, and served as the assistant pastor under Bobby while they continued Life Ministries at the same time. Later for a spell, Tommy took over as the pastor of Brushie Prairie Baptist Church so Bobby and Life Ministries could move on with this evangelism outreach, but soon the group was all back together again when Tommy and Betty joined back up with Life Ministries in 2006 -- with the Brushie church continuing on in the capable hands of another pastor, and it is still there today. The Life Ministries family was back together again! In 2007, after losing our beloved Bobby in an auto accident, Tommy became the evangelist as well as continuing to play guitar and sing backup vocals. He is passionate about preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who might not otherwise hear the Good News in a lost and dying world! Tommy and Betty are members of Navarro Mills Baptist Church and help co-teach their Sunday School class along with our lead musician. Besides lending her voice as a background vocalist in the group, Betty has been helpful in filling other roles, including grill cook and server when Life Ministries has had some of our outdoor evangelism crusades that include hotdogs and such free of charge to the public.
The Burleson Family: Steve, Sharon, and Elizabeth
(and little roadies Joshua and Elijah)

Steve Burleson joined Life Ministries within weeks after its start in 2002 as the lead musician/song leader, joined by his loving wife Sharon and, later, his sweet daughter Elizabeth as well. Steve and his family were also instrumental in helping this ministry plant the Brushie Prairie Baptist Church, and he was the music leader there for a number of years. They have written some beautiful and soul-stirring songs as well. Sharon has been faithful to serve in many different roles in this ministry while raising her beautiful family and adding her warm background vocals to this group's sound. Elizabeth began singing occasional solos in the group at about age 13 and now at 17 provides some of the strongest lead vocals in the group as well as some of the harmonies. She is also following in her father's footsteps and has become quite an accomplished guitarist and is also learning to play the keyboard. Elizabeth helped start a Bible study in her high school, which now meets regularly every week and has grown into quite a large group. She continually makes her parents proud with her service to the Lord at such a young age. The Burlesons are also members of Navarro Mills Baptist Church where they help co-teach their Sunday School class as well as filling in when needed in music and most recently youth ministry. Joshua is also becoming accomplished on the guitar and has performed specials in their church worship services as well as sitting in on their church's monthly "jam" sessions as one of the musicians, and little Elijah is showing interest in music as well. We are excited to see how the boys will likely contribute to this ministry in the near future.
Joy Lynn Davis (with Bob and Jonathan)
Joy Lynn makes her home in Waco, TX, with her husband Bob and stepson Jonathan. They are members of and attend our sponsor church First Baptist Church of Elm Mott, TX, where Joy Lynn resigned from her 3-year position as music minister to devote more time as a contact person for LMEA as well as continuing as one of the Life Ministries singers. However, she is still very involved in the children’s program at her church. She has also briefly sung with the trio The Latimers, but throughout this time, she has remained devoted to LMEA since its humble beginnings in 2002.
Mary Foster

Mary Foster, who is Joy Lynn Davis's mother, also started with Life Ministries in 2002. She did sing and travel with The Surginer Family for several years as well. Gospel music is Mary's main interest. She does also have two published novels and many poems that she has written, but Gospel music is her life. Mary has been totally blind since 1964 and looks forward to seeing the face of Jesus on the day of our rapture.
